CMD+K is used in almost every text editor software application as a shortcut to add a hyperlink or URL to a selected bit of text, in a text editor.
Unfortunately, CMD+K is already a shortcut key combo in Upbase… but it does what most people would expect to happen if they pressed CMD+F (FIND…)
CMD+F is even more well known and standardized than CMD+K… In most other apps, CMD+F you can search for a keyword and find where that word exists on the page or in the app. I think that when a user clicks CMD+F in Upbase, it should toggle the appearance of the awesome Global Search tool!!
Using CMD+F as a shortcut to FIND something on a page is probably one of the most common keyboard shortcuts among all software applications and websites… beyond the super rudimentary few shortcuts that everyone knows (CMD+C, CMD+V, CMD+A, etc.)
My suggestion would be to do two things…
Re-map CMD+F so that it pulls up the Global Search menu/tool users can FFFFFFIND what they are looking for! (instead of using CMD+k)
Re-map CMD+K so that when a user has text selected and they hit CMD+K, the hyperlink dialog box pops up with the cursor active in the field, and ready for the user to paste the URL that's on their clipboard.
