Recurring tasks - V2

Most important for recurring and not recurring tasks is that they automatically move to the next day, when not completed.

It's kind of absurd this feature wasn't on the get-go. ClickUp on the free version works just like Upbase on the paid version, and it's such a basic feature. I get why ClickUp makes you pay for this, and it makes me sad Upbase didn't think of this, and again, this is for the paid version.

This is so basic almost every calendar app has it, even in the free versions.

Like others have said, I think recurring tasks should show up fully on the calendar, with all future (and past, if applicable) recurrences of the task.

In list or board view, however, showing all future occurrences would be too much clutter. I think the critical information there should be

a) items for any past due recurrences,

b) an item for the next upcoming recurrence, and

c) a clear indication that this is a recurring task and how often it occurs (e.g., "RECURRING every Tuesday" or "every month on the 5th" or some appropriately concise descriptions).

Part (c) might work well as a separate card that's ghosted out or something, maybe auto-sorted to the end of the section. So in board view there would be cards for past recurrences, a card for the next recurrence, and a ghosted out card indicating that there will be future recurrences with a certain schedule. That could also serve well as a visually clear way to edit the next recurrence separately from the future schedule, when needed, just by editing those separate cards.

Recurring tasks feature needs multiple improvements. Each has a separate request on canny which is diluting the upvotes.

1. show the recurring tasks in the future while setting them on the mini calendar and on google calendar

2. don’t duplicate recurring tasks on complete, just update them with their next date and time

3. Enable customization of recurring event on any x days of the month, etc

4. Enable setting recurring subtasks on their parent task view (currently we need to open the subtasks to do that)

5. Bug: when a subtask recurs, update its date and time

I suggest to check out how recurring tasks are done on nifty and clickup.

I vote for this to be a priority in Q3 2023. Recurring tasks impacts productivity and efficiency. Thanks for your understanding
